JAC Hunter EV 2024
JAC Hunter EV is an impressive serial SUV-pickup truck, presented in April 2024 at the Beijing Motor Show. The model does not have the aggressive design of a classic SUV, it happened due to some smoothing of the sharp corners of the front of the electric vehicle, the absence of a bulky radiator grille. The large pickup is based on the platform of the current T9, has a slightly “redesigned” appearance, two electric motors with an impressive range of almost 500 km on a single charging cycle.
Updated JAC Hunter: all versions
In China, JAC unveiled the lineup presentation of the updated Hunter (aka Huantu) pickup truck back last year.The following Hunter versions were on display:
- Gasoline
- Diesel.
- Plug-in hybrid.
- Electric.
In terms of dimensions, the Hunter pickup truck has not changed:
- Length – 5330-5620 mm.
- Wheelbase – 3110-3400 mm.
- Width – 1965 mm.
- Height – 1920-1965 mm.
For each version there are different refined technical data, but after the update and the appearance of each model has changed. But the maximum speed of all versions of JAC Hunter is limited at 150 km/h.
JAC T9 Hunter EV version
At the Beijing Motor Show for the first time JAC presented a new electric pickup truck with two motors and all-wheel drive. The absence of a large, bulky radiator grille, which was characteristic of cars with internal combustion engines, is immediately striking, on the electric version it is closed by a flat panel with the JAC logo. Brutality is added only by some details – black, wide curved strip, intricately wrapping the entire hood and weighted bumper. There are also 2 vertical and 9 horizontal laminated welded frames with a ground clearance of 205 mm.
An unusual solution was found for the design of 18-inch wheels, they look somewhat toy-like, but it is done only to reduce air resistance and increase the range. Unlike versions with internal combustion engine, which have a safety cage and side rails on the body of the Hunter EV, they are absent. Only roof rails remain.
The exact dimensions of the electric JAC Hunter EV:
- Length – 5620 mm.
- Width – 1965 mm.
- Height – 1920 mm.
- Cargo body length – 1810 mm.
- Curb weight of the electric pickup – 2350 kg.
- Payload – 1000 kg.
Engine peak power of 70 kW with KM (torque) 176 Nm on the front axle and on the rear axle there is a more powerful engine, driving, at 160 kW with KM 342 Nm. The electric JAC Hunter EV is equipped with a 328-volt battery with a capacity of 88 kWh implanted in the frame, a full charge is enough for 417 kilometers of travel on the CLTC cycle.
Two-engine power plant, 36 kW (49 hp) on the front axle, 150 kW (204 hp) on the rear axle. Acceleration of JAC Hunter EV to the first hundred is 9 seconds.
External and internal data of the electric version of the Hunter
Due to modernization, the EV model has lost heavy dodgers and “stuffing”, inherent to the internal combustion engine and hybrid. Therefore, it turned out to be softer, more gentle, but at the same time did not lose the strict lines and passability. The open body is capacious, though deprived of the impressive look of curved handrails, but nevertheless, it has not lost its functionality. Perhaps it has become more family-oriented and simplified, which is even convenient when operating in metropolitan areas.
It is known that the electric car is equipped with Zhiling 3.0 interface, voice control, navigation system, wireless charging of a cell phone, 220V outlet and electrically adjustable seats.
The front part of the interior does not have any fancy details, here both driver and passenger will not get confused in a lot of buttons, levers. Everything is laconic, necessary to make the trip comfortable and not distract from the road.
Comfortable seats, two-spoke steering wheel, a series of control buttons, large multimedia screen in the center. The dashboard is made of high quality plastic and soft materials. The electric car is equipped with a 7-inch color LCD screen and has two sets of interfaces: the Dongfeng Xianglong and Arctic Blu-ray. Overall, the EV version doesn’t differ much from the internal combustion engine models. The main difference is the presence of a rotating dial under the screen for gear selection on the center console instead of a joystick.
